Claude Code in VS Code, Cursor and JetBrains
In VS Code and Cursor, Claude Code has its own chat-panel extension; in JetBrains IDEs, a plugin connects to the command-line version. Both read ~/.claude/settings.json, so the CoreCode setup is written once. This page follows Anthropic's VS Code and JetBrains guides.
- Put
ANTHROPIC_BASE_URLandANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKENin theenvblock of~/.claude/settings.json; the extension and the CLI share it. - VS Code needs 1.94 or later. Tick Disable Login Prompt in the extension settings so it stops asking you to sign in to a Claude account.
- The VS Code extension bundles its own Claude Code; to run
claudein the integrated terminal you also need the CLI. - The JetBrains plugin does not bundle Claude Code: install the CLI first, and the plugin runs it in the IDE terminal.
- After changing settings, quit the IDE completely, reopen it, and check with
/statusthat requests go tohttps://corecode.live.
Step 1: the settings file
Edit ~/.claude/settings.json (on Windows, %USERPROFILE%\.claude\settings.json), creating it if needed:
{
"env": {
"ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL": "https://corecode.live",
"ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN": "sk-your-key"
}
}
Create the key on the console's API keys page in the Claude 满血(仅限CC)group; Claude Code inside an extension counts as Claude Code. More options are in Recommended settings.
Do not put these variables in the VS Code extension's own environmentVariables setting: that applies to the extension only, and Anthropic recommends keeping shared configuration in Claude Code's settings.json.
VS Code and Cursor
-
Install the extension
VS Code 1.94 or later is required. Press
Ctrl+Shift+X(Cmd+Shift+Xon Mac), search for "Claude Code" and install the one published by Anthropic. Do the same in Cursor; other VS Code-based editors can install it from Open VSX. -
Turn off the login prompt
Press
Ctrl+,(Cmd+,on Mac), search for "Claude Code login" and tick Disable Login Prompt. Anthropic provides it for third-party setups; with it on, the extension stops showing the Claude account sign-in screen. -
Quit and reopen
Settings are read at startup. Close every VS Code window, reopen it, open the Claude Code panel and send a message.
The extension bundles its own Claude Code to drive the chat panel. To run claude in VS Code's integrated terminal, also install the CLI. The extension's version number is the Claude Code version it bundles.
JetBrains (IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm and more)
The plugin works with most JetBrains IDEs, including IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, Android Studio, WebStorm, PhpStorm and GoLand. It does not bundle Claude Code; it runs the CLI in the IDE terminal and connects to it, so install both:
- Install the CLI as in Claude Code and write the settings file above.
- Install the Claude Code plugin from the JetBrains Marketplace and restart the IDE.
Then run claude in the IDE terminal and diff viewing, selection sharing and the rest are active; Ctrl+Esc (Cmd+Esc on Mac) opens it directly. From an external terminal, type /ide to connect a running Claude Code to the IDE. If the plugin says "Cannot launch Claude Code", claude is not on your PATH; set its full path in the plugin's Claude command setting.
Check it goes through CoreCode
Type /status in the panel or terminal; the Base URL should be https://corecode.live. After a message, the request and its charge appear in the console's usage logs.

|---|---|
The extension keeps showing the sign-in screen, or says Not logged in · Please run /login | Tick Disable Login Prompt, check that env is in ~/.claude/settings.json, and quit VS Code completely. If it persists, run Developer: Reload Window from the Command Palette. |
| Variables set in a terminal are not seen | VS Code launched from the desktop may not inherit your shell environment. Use settings.json, or start VS Code from a terminal with code .. |
| Still on the official account | If you signed in with a claude.ai account before, run /logout, then reopen as above. Do not also set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY. |
| The panel does not appear after installing | Restart VS Code, or run Developer: Reload Window. |

FAQ
Is the VS Code extension the same as the Claude Code CLI?
The extension bundles its own Claude Code for the chat panel and shares ~/.claude/settings.json with the CLI, so one setup covers both. To run claude in a terminal you still need the CLI.
Does it work in Cursor?
Yes. Search for "Claude Code" in Cursor's Extensions view; the setup is the same as in VS Code.
Why does the JetBrains plugin say Cannot launch Claude Code?
The plugin does not bundle Claude Code. Install the CLI and make sure claude is on your PATH, or set its full path in the plugin's Claude command setting.
