Claude Code
Point Claude Code's base URL at CoreCode. The command line, the VS Code extension and the JetBrains plugin share one configuration.
Install
Skip this if it is already installed.
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex
You can also install with npm: npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code, which needs Node.js 22 or later. Do not install with sudo. Then run claude --version; if it prints a version, the install worked. Windows details and common problems are in Claude Code on Windows.
Configure
Option 1: the settings file (recommended)
Edit ~/.claude/settings.json (on Windows, %USERPROFILE%\.claude\settings.json), creating it if it does not exist. If it already has content, merge only the env section:
{
"env": {
"ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL": "https://corecode.live",
"ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN": "sk-your-key"
}
}
Save, open a new terminal and run claude. Every project now goes through CoreCode.
Option 2: environment variables
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=https://corecode.live
export ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN=sk-your-key
claude
$env:ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL = "https://corecode.live"
$env:ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN = "sk-your-key"
claude
To make it permanent, add the two export lines to ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc. On Windows, run setx ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL https://corecode.live and setx ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN sk-your-key, then reopen the terminal.
Check that it works
claude -p "reply ok"
If it returns ok, you are connected. Type /status in Claude Code and the Base URL shows https://corecode.live. The request and its charge appear in the console's Usage Logs.
ANTHROPIC_API_KEY, and do not sign in to Claude Code with a claude.ai account; either conflicts with the key. If you signed in before, run /logout in Claude Code first. You do not need to change models: Claude Code's default Opus / Sonnet / Haiku all work. To pick a model, use claude --model claude-sonnet-5-5.VS Code / JetBrains
The Claude Code extension for VS Code shares ~/.claude/settings.json with the command line. Write env into that file as in Option 1, quit VS Code completely and reopen it; the extension then goes through CoreCode. The JetBrains plugin runs the command-line Claude Code in the IDE terminal, so it is configured the same way. Full steps and common problems are in VS Code and JetBrains.
If you signed in to the extension with a claude.ai account before, sign out first, or it keeps using the official account.
Recommended settings
ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN are all you need. The options below are optional; merge them into ~/.claude/settings.json as needed:
{
"env": {
"ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL": "https://corecode.live",
"ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN": "sk-your-key",
"CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC": "1",
"CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_1M_CONTEXT": "1"
},
"language": "english"
}
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC | Turns off nonessential requests to Anthropic: auto-update, telemetry, error reporting, the feedback command, release notes and so on. Recommended when you cannot reach Anthropic's services. With auto-update off, run claude update to upgrade. |
CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_1M_CONTEXT | Limits models that default to a 1M context to 200K. Each turn sends less context and costs less, at the price of compacting sooner. |
CLAUDE_CODE_PROMPT_CACHE_TTL | Set to 1h to write one-hour cache entries, useful if you often pause for tens of minutes. See One-hour cache. |
language | The language Claude replies in, for example "english" or "chinese". |
CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_EXPERIMENTAL_BETAS or ENABLE_TOOL_SEARCH=false because they cannot forward Anthropic's beta headers. CoreCode passes them through unchanged, so set neither: the first removes the headers the one-hour cache and MCP tool search need, and also turns off auto mode's server-side review, so a paid check request precedes every tool call, and Anthropic's safety classifier may refuse those checks (see The cost of auto mode); and the second sends every MCP tool definition each turn, so any MCP change breaks the cache.Common commands
These are the basics; for more slash commands and shortcuts see the commands reference, and for MCP servers see the MCP setup guide.
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
claude -c | Continue the most recent session in this directory |
claude -r | Pick a past session to resume |
claude -p "…" | Ask once, print the result and exit; good for scripts |
claude --model claude-sonnet-5-5 | Start with a specific model |
claude update | Upgrade Claude Code; the current version and recent changes are in latest version and release notes |
/status | Show the version, model, Base URL and where settings come from, to confirm you are on CoreCode |
/usage (or /cost) | Show this session's token usage and cost |
/context | Show what is taking up the context |
/compact | Compact the conversation history to keep working in a long session |
/model | Switch models. Switching mid-session invalidates the cache |
| Shift + Tab | Cycle permission modes (default, accept edits, plan, auto and so on) |
